Mouse Functions

Overview

The map pane supports a number of mouse click functions listed below. Beside of the mouse click operations there are mouse drag operations available and drag and drop functions.

Left Button

SHIFT + CTRL + Click Open waypoint links (tagged shell-commands in comment section)
In selection mode selection mode
Click Selection/deselection of waypoints/routes/tracks
CTRL + Click Add/remove item to/from already selected
Drag Move selected waypoints
Drag Move routepoints/trackpoints of selected routes/tracks
CTRL + Drag Instant routing of route/track segments
In map move mode map move mode
Drag Moving the map
In map zoom mode map zoom mode
Drag Zoom box
In draw mode draw point draw track draw route
Click Set another waypoint/routepoint/trackpoint
CTRL + hold button down Instant routing
In erase mode erase mode
Click Remove waypoint/routepoint/trackpoint (must be selected)
Drag Erase box to remove multiple items
In split mode split mode
Click Split selected route/track
In link mode link mode
Drag Combine end point of one route/track with start point of another route/track and vice versa
In insert mode insert mode
Click/Drag Insert new points into route/track
In sync mode sync mode
Click Synchronize waypoint/routepoint/trackpoint with other views (Project,Waypoints,etc.)
In branch mode branch mode
Drag Break a route/track and re-connect to a third route/track: Drag the end point of a route/track and drop it at the track/route to be branched

Middle Button

Gesture Function
Drag Move the map in cursor selection/move mode
Drag Zoom the map in cursor move mode

If middle mouse button is not available use ‘Menu-Options-Preferences-Mouse Buttons’ to set a replacement (recommended: SHIFT+WIN)

Right Button

Gesture Function
Click Cancel current cursor mode and return to selection mode
Click Finish waypoint/route/track building
Click Show context menu (in selection mode only)
Click and hold select most recent mouse mode

Mouse Wheel

Find mouse wheel/touch pad optimization in ‘Menu-Options-Preferences-Mouse Buttons’.

If Optimized for Mouse Wheel

wheel up zoom in
wheel down zoom out
CTRL + wheel up scale in
CTRL + wheel down scale out
SHIFT + wheel up switch to next map (Garmin: next level)
SHIFT + wheel down switch to previous map (Garmin: previous level)
right button + wheel up scale in
right button + wheel down scale out

If Optimized for Touch Pad

Further Functions

Drag’n Drop Garmin Maps

  • Drag and drop a single Garmin precompiled map file (.img) from Windows Explorer into FancyRoute in order to open the map.

Drag’n Drop Single Project File

  • Drag and drop a single project file (.gpx, .ovl, etc.) from Windows Explorer into FancyRoute in order to open it.

Drag’n Drop Multiple Project Files

  • Drag multiple project files from Windows Explorer into FancyRoute, hold CTRL and drop to add them to the current project.

Project Pane Header

  • Header click to sort items.
  • Header right-click to arrange columns.

Waypoints Pane Header

  • Header click to sort items (waypoints only, not for routepoints or trackpoints).
  • CTRL + header click to alternately select the minimum/maximum value of this column.
  • SHIFT + header click to select all empty rows of this column.
  • CTRL + SHIFT + header click to add all empty rows of this column to the current selection.
  • Header right-click to arrange columns.

Switch to Other Map Type

  • During command ‘Menu-Map-Navigation’ hold CTRL key pressed to retain the map center position within the new map.

Mouse Button Replacement

  • ‘Menu-Options-Preferences-Mouse Buttons’ offers options to replace mouse button presses by keyboard key presses. This can be helpful using notebooks that misses the middle mouse button.
