Keyboard Shortcuts

Overview

Any command available in menus and button bars can also be applied using keyboard shortcuts. Working with keyboard shortcuts can be much faster than finding commands in menus or button bars.

A certain number of keyboard shortcuts is already predefined, others can be added.

Setup

Keyboard shortcuts can be managed in ‘Menu-Options-Preferences-Keyboard Shortcuts’. It is possible to:

  • View existing shortcuts
  • Assign shortcuts to commands
  • Remove shortcuts
  • Save or load the shortcut set to/from disk

Tip: If necessary use the ‘Default’-button to set all shortcut assignments to its initial values.

Assign a new shortcut

  • Enable shortcuts by ticking the checkbox ‘Enable Keyboard Shortcuts’.
  • Select the command to assign a shortcut to.
  • Press ‘Add’ button - a dialog pops up.
  • Press the key combination that shall serve as shortcut. Any keys together with CTRL, ALT, SHIFT are possible. The WIN-key cannot be used as shortcut.
  • Quit preferences by pressing OK.

Shortcuts are only functioning if the main window has the focus. If one of the control bars currently has the focus the shortcuts defined here don’t work. So the default dialog shortcuts defined by the Windows system don’t interfere with the user defined shortcuts. Press the ESC-key in order to move the focus back to the main window. Then the user defined shortcuts can be applied.
